H 18.30 Talk with Post Disaster – presentation of the Post Disaster Rooftops project.
Founded by Gabriele Leo, Gabriella Mastrangelo, Grazia Mappa and Peppe Frisino, Post Disaster is an interdisciplinary collective whose practice intersects spatial, performative and editorial actions. Their research uses the metaphor of disaster understood as a spatial lens for understanding global dynamics and tensions.
In 2018 they initiated POST DISASTER ROOFTOPS, a long-term project taking place on the rooftops of Taranto, an industrial city in southern Italy whose crisis intersects ecological, economic and geopolitical issues. Through the lens of the city, the multidisciplinary practice critically investigates the effects of extractive/production processes with a particular look at the territories of Southern Europe and the Mediterranean.
Their work has been exhibited in institutional and independent contexts related to contemporary art and architecture. In 2021 they were awarded the Sustainable Art Prize at Artverona 2021. In 2023 they were invited to participate in the exhibition of the Padiglione Italia at the Venice Architecture Biennial.
