As part of ART CITY Bologna 2025 Parsec presents Giulia Mantasia’s exhibition, the final moment of her four-month residency at Parsec’s spaces.
The artist explores the overlaps between reality, memory and imagination, creating a liminal space in which the boundaries between consciousness, temporality and perception continuously dissolve and reconstruct themselves. Every detail seems to hold traces of ghostly presences, in an atmosphere charged with tension between the familiar and the uncanny. The works take the form of fragments of an intimate experience, constructed through more or less vivid visions and memories that combine freely in the exhibition space. Domestic environments, often archetypes of refuge and serenity, are traversed by a sense of latent disquiet, a subtle threat that creeps between objects and memories. Mantasia crosses the boundaries of comics and illustration, experimenting with wooden boards and site-specific installations that invite the audience to confront ambiguity, fragmentation and a constant movement between reality and imaginative experience.
