Exhibition curated by Parsec
Promoted by the Foundation Zucchelli
Also this year we are happy to announce that Parsec will collaborate with Fondazione Zucchelli following the curatorship of the exhibition ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฉ๐ง๐ค ๐ฉ๐ช๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ ๐ก๐ ๐๐ค๐จ๐ for the Arte Fiera 2025 stand and for Zu.Art giardino delle arti.
Zu.Art hosts the exhibition of the winners of the Zucchelli Contest 2024: Marco Mandorlini, Giacomo Mallardo, Alessandro Aprile, Alice Risaliti, Angelica Diacci, Gloria Franzin, and the Art Up 2024 awardees: Federico Grilli, Alice Ricci, Ismaele Soraperra, Mengfan Wang. The works develop from different sensibilities and practices, but they present themselves as traces of an emotional experience rooted in archetypes and shared instincts, in forms that, despite their apparent evanescence, shape our relationship with the world. The pieces explore the relationship with things, evoking interstices and discontinuities of meaning.
This initial map finds further depth in the Zucchelli stand at Arte Fiera, where the dialogue between the works becomes more complex and layered. The exhibition project focuses on the narrative potential of the fragment, the threshold that separates and unites, the tension between light and shadow, between presence and fading.
The title Behind All Things, inspired by the poem Aver paura di una casa vuota by Mariangela Gualtieri, evokes the image of a place that is both familiar and unsettling, immersed in the wind’s noise and the coldness of the night. The house becomes a metaphor for an ambivalence: on one side, it is a refuge, a known place; on the other, a spectral and disorienting space. Despite everything, one chooses to stay. There is no turning back. This ambivalence reflects a condition of our time: disorientation, nostalgia for a past time never lived, and anxiety towards an uncertain future.
The works emerge as fragments that intertwine the visible and invisible, transforming their narrative elements into vibrant abstractions full of tension. They combine seemingly distant elementsโa reflection in water, a scarecrow dressed in streetwear, digital glitches intersecting with a vegetal image, a figure glimpsed in the darknessโthrough archetypes that appear as traces and intuitions.
The exhibition space is infused with a “sad euphoria,” an ambivalent feeling typical of our time, used by the producer Kode9 to describe the album Untrue by Burial (Hyperdub, 2007), a young English musician. This feeling guides us on a journey through the interstices of the contemporary, between spaces of darkness and sudden flashes of light, fragments of an accelerated world, where the desire for connection clashes with the fragmentary nature of experience.
In this context, the selection of works for Arte Fiera deepens the tensions between tradition and techno-culture, between the archaic and the digital, presenting residual images and bright signs that evoke an emotional and speculative dimension.
In the house suggested by Mariangela Gualtieri, there is a sense of longing for escape, but escape is impossible. One wouldnโt even know where to go. Yet, in this darkness, attention is captured by luminous signs and intuitions: the sparkle of enormous stars, small wings hanging on the wall, a face emerging from a dark corner, fragments of DNA.
We move forward, image by image, step by step, immersed in a fragmented path, where we sense the world behind the world. We stay. We do not go back.
