Crit appointment returns on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 pm with Camilla Carroli, winner of the Parsec Residency project.
The CRIT is a moment in which the artist opens up to a collective critique and confrontation with the public that can express their point of view on the work, building an opportunity for shared analysis. Each CRIT is open to everyone and is structured in a first part in which the artist cannot intervene in the discussion by merely listening, and in a second part in which they can participate actively.
Camilla Carroli (2000) is a visual artist active in Romagna. After graduating from the Liceo Artistico Nervi-Severini high school in Ravenna, she began the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna in 2019 at the chair of Painting of Simone Pellegrini, where she is in the process of obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
Her research focuses mainly on the theme of Felinity, as a continuous juxtaposition of the aesthetic and the erotic that is never resolved, as well as the relationship between Alterity and Bestiality. Becoming-cat means establishing an empathy that no longer seeks meaning, yielding to the temptation of unlimited pleasure that passes through the body as an instrument of perception. Eroticism moves everything and there is no rule in enjoying. Once time-space criteria are abolished, all compromises with a reality that is no longer enough also give way. The condition of the conscious individual then becomes the limit to be overcome in order to be able to access intelligible dimensions, to be able to be the event of an epiphany.
