Neo-Materialist Feminist Bibliography
Curated by Laboratorio Gelatineria (Beatrice Sartori, Joy Pepe)
From May 22 online at the Italian Women’s Library website
May 22 to June 4 – Women’s Center, Via del Piombo
La Gelatineria is a laboratory for artisans, artists, researchers, shell collectors, and anyone interested in sensory and collective practices. It is rooted in feminist new materialisms, art-science, and DIY practices, recognizing the experiment as a situated material practiceβone that breaks down the walls of the laboratory to embrace interference, and views speculation as a collectively negotiated and participatory process.
As a proposal for access to the Laboratoria, starting from May 22, a Neo-Materialist Feminist Bibliography will be available online on the Biblioteca italiana delle donne website. This is a curated bibliographic journey focusing on new materialisms, interwoven with contemporary feminist thought, phenomenology, media studies, and the entanglements between art and science.
The bibliography is divided into two sections:
β’β β The first part gathers key texts in neo-materialist theory available in the university library system, with a ? symbol indicating those also available at the Italian Womenβs Library in Bologna.
β’β β The second part includes works that are related through affinity and thematic connections.
Special attention is given to the contributions of Rosi Braidotti, who, alongside Manuel DeLanda, is considered one of the founding figures of this current in contemporary thought. Central to this approach are also the reflections of Karen Barad and Donna Haraway, thinkers who have built a vital bridge between the humanities, natural sciences, and quantum physics, offering new perspectives on the entanglement of matter, meaning, and power.
