Irene Cassarini, concluding the Parsec Residency/Moving Image residency program sponsored by Parsec, presents the multimedia installation //:LOCAL gHOST. On the opening day, the artist will present a live sound performance .
How is it possible not to limit ourselves to being the object of the systemic extractivism operated through the sharing of our data?
Cassarini delves into the subject of new technologies, their social and environmental impact and algorithmic anxiety, an expedient to reflect on multiple implications: from mental health to the contradictions of capitalist society, from a sense of community to the ecological impact of technologies.
Combining video, sound design and sculpture, the artist-developed device moves rhizomatically, connecting online and offline worlds in an indissoluble network.

Irene Cassarini is a music producer, DJ, visual artist and independent researcher. Throughout their career, they have developed audio and video works that address personal, political and social issues, expressing them through the creative use of digital devices. They are inspired by Internet trends, queer culture and digital art. Under the pseudonym Guenter Raler, Irene has debuted at several prestigious festivals and in 2021, they were selected among the twelve participants at the European Female DJ Summit in Copenhagen.
