Giulia Vigna @alive_withpleasure (1992) is an artist and graphic designer based in Rome. She studied fashion and art history. Her research moves between ecology and participatory processes, investigating the relationships between capitalism, systems of exploitation and feminism. She often works with the reuse of materials, texts and images as practices of resignification, appropriation and the construction of collective narratives. In 2017 she co-founded the collective Vaste Programme.
Developed as part of the international residency Creative Landscapes, Res Nullius is the result of three months of research between Borgo di Colle Ameno (Italy) and Švenčionėliai (Lithuania). Through photographs, videos and a series of interventions in the landscape, Giulia Vigna transforms words, stories and fragments of conversations collected during the residency into a multimedia installation and a publication.
The project reflects on walking as a practice of knowledge and on landscape as a relational space, questioning the shift from the concept of res nullius to that of res communis through the shared experience of places. As a natural extension of the research, a circular walk through the Abetaia near Rifugio Ranuzzi, guided by the artist, invites the public to experience the landscape as a practice of observation, listening and attention.
