Terrapolis – Transversal Ecologies Festival is a festival of contemporary art and ecological practices that takes shape amid the tensions of the present—a historical moment marked by the convergence of a new technological revolution and ecological collapse.
These are two profound and only seemingly opposing processes that move in parallel: on one side, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, characterized by cognitive capitalism and digital pervasiveness; on the other, the sixth mass extinction, which affects entire ecosystems and life forms. This coexistence of growth and destruction generates conflicting emotions and demands radical tools of resistance, imagination, and transversal connection to be addressed.
The transversality referenced in the title of this fifth edition of the festival refers to the ability to hold together what is heterogeneous—creating relationships without reducing differences to a single synthesis. The posthuman is not just a concept but a tool for interpreting the present. Composite subjectivities, unstable assemblages, and forms of relational ethics born from doing, from crisis, from collaboration emerge from this perspective . Knowledge and culture are not produced in isolation but arise from dialogue, contamination, informal networks, collectives, and alliances between multifaceted subjectivities.
Terrapolis – Transversal Ecologies Festival is thus grounded in this vision, activating connections between artistic practices, local communities, independent cultural collectives, activists, researchers, public administrations, and local residents. It promotes cultural decentralization as a necessary condition for addressing the environmental and cultural urgencies of our time.
