Inauguration of the site-specific work Baracca
Roberto Alfano

Roberto Alfano  (Lodi, 1981) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in both personal and collective memory, particularly that of the Basso Lodigiano, a region marked by fog, farmhouses, and the blurred boundaries between earth and sky. Originally emerging as a graffiti writer in the 1990s, he transformed urban gesture into a language that integrates painting, installation, ephemeral architecture, and participatory art โ€” a path deeply connected to lived experience and encounter with others. Art, for Alfano, becomes a means of establishing genuine relationships with people and places, shaping what he defines as generative art: a practice where human exchange is essential and the surrounding territory becomes an integral part of the creative process.

From this perspective, the baracca (hut) becomes a key element of his work. These structures, built with salvaged materials, evoke intimacy, fragility, and resilience. Inspired by the huts of his childhood, by worksite shelters, by fishermenโ€™s sheds along the Po River, and by makeshift dwellings in Mexico and South America, these architectures become spaces of care, slowness, and listening. More than containers, the baracche are โ€œinner housesโ€ that hold memories, experiences, and the possibility of rebirth, activating new forms of shared existence.

Baracca, which will be built collectively, will house a bookshop and infopoint for the duration of the Festival.
