Irene Adorni
formally different, studio no.1 (for friendly people) is the first study of Irene Adorniโs new work, created in collaboration with Gerarda Avallone, Laura Cossignani, and Riccardo De Simone. Combining installation, sound, and performance, the work explores matter as a field of horizontal relationships, engaging bodies, objects, and sounds in an ever-evolving assemblage.
Irene Adorni is an artist and curator whose practice explores the relationship between bodies in space and the incorporeal conditions of corporeality. Her work, grounded in philosophical research close to the thought of Elizabeth Grosz, Brian Massumi, and Karen Barad, investigates the overcoming of the body-mind dualism and the transformative possibilities that emerge through the encounter between bodies. For Adorni, there is no clear distinction between artistic and curatorial research: they are two sides of the same coin, both aimed at deconstructing the separations imposed by Western thought. Convinced that dualisms, logical distinctions, and technical boundaries are among the main epistemological obstacles of our time, she carries out a practice that moves across languages and contexts without hierarchy, experimenting with exhibition, performative, and installation formats where theory and sensory experience are deeply intertwined.
