FATAvideo – For a Transfeminist Video Archive
curated by Sara Papini
presentation and talk with Francesca Lolli, Claudia Amatruda and Francesca Leoni
10 October h.18.30

On Oct. 10, curator Sara Papini, at the end of her residency at Parsec, will present the project FATA VIDEO – For a Transfeminist Archive, the result of her work over the past few months. FATA was born with the aim of creating a safe space to discuss, host and map video art in Italy today. In a context where, since its origins, video art has been poorly protected and valued compared to other European countries, FATA aims to be a free and feminist platform that aims to support an art that is sometimes marginalized.

The archive is not intended to be an academic cell pure and simple: language, form, and structure break away from a rigid framework, embracing instead feminism and intersectionality. To facilitate research, the artists’ works are organized into thematic areas such as transfeminism or ecofeminism-categories that are useful for orientation but acknowledge the complex interconnectedness between different dimensions of feminism, from queerness to hydrofeminism. FATA adopts a neutral language, aiming to represent and include everyone. The project is open to collaboration and contamination, inviting artists, researchers, and anyone interested to contribute materials, critical reflections, or new perspectives in order to build a living, dynamic, and collective archive.

On the occasion of the presentation of the project, Papini will conduct a talk with Francesca Lolli, Claudia Amatruda and Francesca Leoni, artists involved in FATA, at Parsec on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6:30 p.m., to discuss their practice and research.

The installation created for the presentation will remain on view until Sunday, Oct. 13.
